Wild Camping On The Scafell Range – October 2015

A collection of pictures from a recent wild camp on the Scafell Range in the Lake District. A route taken from Langdale, onto Crinkle Crags then on to Bowfell, Esk Pike, Great End, Broad Crag, Ill Crag, Scafell Pike and back to Langdale via the Corridor Route, Sprinkling Tarn, Angle Tarn, Rossett Pike and the Cumbria Way. The weather was fine, if not a little cloudy on the first two days with good spells of warm sun for the most part. At the end of the second day and throughout the night, heavy rain and clag set in. Strong winds compounded the challenge not to pack away and retreat to lower ground, but a little resilience and a warm sleeping bag meant that the night was seen out on the hill. Waking in the morning to a flooded pitch, the wet remained the theme for the walk back into Langdale and tested the new Rab Neo Alpine in the most fitting manner. [Review to come on the jacket soon] Stops in The Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel before setting off and again when down from the fells made the trip another great experience in the Lake District.
