Greg Boswell is a promising Scottish climber, and was in the press recently for having survived an attack by a grizzly bear when climbing with a friend in Canada. But now, Greg has become the latest ambassador for Leki poles.
With a wealth of experience already, having become the youngest climber to tackle the Scottish Fast and Furious (D10+) and the Lipton (W17), and Mission (M10) in Rjukan. Using Scotland as his training base, Greg favours the Leki Tour Stick Vario Carbon and the Tour Carbon III models.
Of these, Leki says; ‘The Leki Tour Stick Vario Carbon is a great all-rounder that folds down quickly and easily to just 39cm for stowing away and the Tour Carbon III delivers great propulsion power at low weight through its combined construction design. Both poles are made using a combination of pure carbon (upper) and high strength aluminium (lower) delivering optimal performance. Leki’s Speed Lock 2 mechanism features on both poles which allows for hassle-free length adjustment, even with gloves on. The ultra-light Aergon Tour Thermo grip with hermal extension offers optimum comfort and various gripping options and both come with a reinforced neoprene security strap with fleece lining for maximum comfort.’
Upon joining up with Leki, Greg has commented on the company’s poles and their aid in his rehabilitation from the injuries suffered during that much reported bear attack in Canada. “I chose to work with Leki as they have always been at the forefront of the walking and ski pole technology ladder. It’s a pretty essential piece of kit in the mountains and what better company to have supporting you than the ones who are always pushing the boundaries of new innovation and weight-to-strength ratios. I went with two pole types in particular; the Tour Carbon III for big mountain days and winter outings and the Tour Stick Vario Carbon for other lightweight pole needs, e.g. trail running. I’ve been going through rehab from the incident and injury to my leg in Canada, so the Leki poles are perfect for getting me back into the mountains and helping to make the most of the day, whilst working on getting my leg back to full strength. I’m looking forward to using the Vario Carbons on the Scottish hill runs again soon once my leg is a little stronger.”
